Blepharoplasty Surgery in Indianapolis & Carmel

Personalized eyelid rejuvenation designed to refresh tired appearing eyes while maintaining natural expression and facial harmony.

At My Plastic Surgery Group, our plastic surgeons perform advanced blepharoplasty techniques tailored to each patient’s anatomy, skin quality, and aesthetic goals. Blepharoplasty, commonly referred to as eyelid surgery, is designed to improve heaviness, puffiness, excess skin, and signs of aging around the upper and lower eyelids to create a more refreshed and rested appearance.

Over time, aging, genetics, and changes in skin elasticity can contribute to hooding of the upper eyelids, under eye puffiness, loose skin, and a tired or heavy appearance around the eyes. Eyelid surgery helps restore a smoother, more youthful contour while preserving natural facial movement and expression.

Upper blepharoplasty is commonly performed as an in-office procedure with minimal downtime, making it a popular option for patients seeking subtle yet meaningful facial rejuvenation. During your consultation, your surgeon will carefully evaluate your concerns and develop a personalized treatment plan designed to complement your natural features.

Upper blepharoplasty pricing typically ranges from $4,000–$4,500 depending on surgical complexity and individualized treatment planning. A consultation is required to provide a customized surgical quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Upper blepharoplasty, also known as upper eyelid surgery, removes excess skin and tissue from the upper eyelids to create a more refreshed, youthful, and awake appearance. This procedure is commonly performed to improve heavy, drooping, or tired-looking eyes and can help restore a more open eyelid contour. In some patients, excess upper eyelid skin may also interfere with vision, making upper blepharoplasty both a cosmetic and functional procedure.
Yes. Upper blepharoplasty is commonly performed under local anesthesia in an office-based surgical setting. This allows patients to remain comfortable during the procedure while avoiding the need for general anesthesia in many cases. Because upper eyelid surgery is minimally invasive and typically well tolerated, most patients experience a smooth recovery with minimal downtime and can return home shortly after the procedure.
Upper blepharoplasty scars are typically very well concealed within the natural crease of the upper eyelid, making them difficult to see once fully healed. As healing progresses, the incision usually fades significantly and blends naturally with the eyelid contour. Careful surgical technique and proper post-operative care help support smooth healing and natural-looking upper blepharoplasty results.
Recovery after upper blepharoplasty is typically quick, with most patients returning to work, social activities, and normal daily routines within 5 to 7 days. Mild swelling and bruising are common during the first week but generally improve rapidly. Because upper eyelid surgery involves minimal downtime and a relatively smooth recovery process, it is a popular option for patients seeking a refreshed, more youthful appearance without an extended recovery period.
No. The goal of upper blepharoplasty is to create a natural, refreshed, and more youthful appearance without making you look overdone or dramatically different. Upper eyelid surgery is designed to enhance your existing features by reducing heaviness and restoring a more open, rested look. Most patients are told they appear more awake and refreshed after healing, rather than looking like they have had obvious cosmetic surgery.
Upper blepharoplasty results are long-lasting, and many patients enjoy a more refreshed and youthful appearance for years after surgery. While upper eyelid surgery removes excess skin and improves eyelid contour permanently, the natural aging process will continue over time. Factors such as skin elasticity, genetics, and lifestyle habits can influence how long results last, but most patients continue to look more rested and rejuvenated long after recovery.

Blepharoplasty Procedure Information

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty rejuvenates the appearance around the eyes. Aging causes descent of fatty tissue and commonly causes eyelids to droop and puffy bags to develop under the eyes.
Droopy eyelids require upper eyelid surgery which involves making an incision within the natural crease of the upper eyelid, trimming away excess skin, repositioning fat deposits and tightening the muscles and remaining tissue. A common complaint from patients requesting information on eyelid surgery is that they feel like they look tired all the time, or they look in the mirror and see droopy eyelids. After eyelid surgery, you can expect a rejuvenated look. Most of the time, upper eyelid surgery can be done under local anesthetic in our office.
Lower eyelid surgery is handled differently from upper eyelid surgery and usually needs to be done under general anesthesia. This cosmetic procedure is done by making an incision just below the lower lash line, or from inside the lower eyelid. Through these incisions, excess skin and fatty tissue can be removed from the lower eyelid.

Prior to each procedure, we want our patients to be in general good health. Excessive dryness, history of glaucoma, or prior Lasik procedure may affect the safety or results of blepharoplasty surgery. These and many other topics will be discussed in a personal consultation with your plastic surgeon.

After eyelid surgery, you will probably only experience mild discomfort. Bruising will usually last about one week, possibly a little longer with lower eyelid surgery. There will be some swelling, and how long that swelling lasts depends on the individual. Ice packs, head elevation, avoiding strenuous activities and minimizing salt intake during the first week will help reduce the swelling. Sutures are removed within one week. Overall, recovery after eyelid surgery is reasonably simple.
