Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to eliminate excess fat and skin, resulting in a firmer, more sculpted abdominal profile. In traditional approaches to this surgery, the body tends to accumulate fluid between the skin-fat layer and the underlying musculature before these layers fully adhere during the healing process. To manage this, small tubes are strategically placed to facilitate the removal of excess fluid, ensuring a smoother recovery and optimal results.

Recent advancements and studies have illuminated the efficacy of the quilting technique, which notably obviates the necessity for drains while concurrently facilitating progressive skin tightening from the abdomen downwards. Any elective operation is both safer and more effective the closer one is to their ideal weight. This will be evaluated during your consultation. Specific instructions will be given to help you prepare for the mini tummy tuck procedure, including getting closer to your goal weight.

There is a possibility that pregnancy can re-create excess skin and cause loosening of the muscles.Unfortunately, this is an unpredictable occurrence. Patients who have pregnancy plans within a year or two may be advised to postpone the procedure.

It will be ideal to have the mini tummy tuck at least several months after giving birth and breastfeeding.

A mini tummy tuck typically is less painful than standard tummy tuck. The one variable which really sets the pain level is wall tightening. If significant muscle tightening is done, a few days of narcotics can be helpful.
The scar for a mini tummy tuck varies in its extent between hip bones, but shorter than the scar of a standard tummy tuck. This will be determined at your consultation. The scar will be placed low, just at the top of the pubic hairline.
A mini tummy tuck procedure does not affect the “love handle” area. However, there are other procedures that can be recommended for treatment, for example: liposuction or extended tummy tuck.
Showering is fine the day after surgery. Aftercare instructions will be provided, including the “Do’s and Don’ts” the patient must observe during the recovery period.
