The Plastic Surgery Group offers the following less invasive, injectable procedures. Because safety and precision are extremely important during these precedures, injectables will be administered by Dr. Sando, Dr. Jones or Dr. Aker only.
BOTOX® (botulinum Toxin Type A)
Botox Cosmetic is a purified protein. Very low doses are administered through a few tiny injections directly into those muscles that are responsible for frown lines. Botox blocks the release of the chemical in the body that causes these muscles to contract and therefore enabling them to relax. This process makes the skin appear smoother.
FACTS:
1. There is no anesthesia required. However, our surgeon may give you a cold pack or anesthetic cream to place over the injection area a few minutes before the procedure.
2. You may experience tenderness, swelling, bruising, redness, bleeding, pain, and infection at the sight of injection.
3. You may notice a softening in the appearance of your frown lines within 1 to 2 days, but, more commonly, it is 5 to 7 days before there are any noticeable changes.
4. Although they vary by individual, results have been shown to last 3-6 months.
5. There is very little, if any, down time. This procedure can be done on your way to work or on your lunch hour.
Dysport is administered in very low doses of tiny injections directly into the muscles of the areas of the face most prone to frowning. Dysport blocks the release of the chemical in the body that causes these muscles to contract and therefore enables those muscles to relax. This process results in the appearance of much smoother skin.

Restylane is a cosmetic hyaluronic acid dermal filler in gel form. It is administered by injecting small amounts of the dermal filler under the skin of the actual wrinkles and folds, to replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin. It is used to smooth away moderate facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).
FACTS:
1. Restylane is similar to Perlane except Perlane has larger particles and helps with deeper wrinkles and folds.
2. Restylane delivers long-lasting results immediately. Those results have been shown to last up to 6-9 months.
3. As with all injections you may experience discomfort. To increase your comfort, your doctor will assess your need for pain management and determine what technique is right for you.
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid injectable gel that is injected under the skin to smooth out the wrinkles and folds on your face. The results are immediate. It is used to smooth away moderate facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).
FACTS:
1. The results are seen immediately, and although they vary by individual, can last up to 1 year.

1. Perlane is a gel that has larger particles and is designed for deeper injection to treat deeper facial wrinkles and folds.
2. Results can be seen immediately, but vary individually. These results have been reported to last 6-9 months due to the product’s patented stabilization technology.
3. As with all injections you may experience discomfort. To increase your comfort, your doctor will assess your need for pain management and determine what technique is right for you.
Prevelle is a hyaluronic acid cosmetic dermal filler in gel form. It is administered by injecting small amounts of the dermal filler just under the skin’s surface to temporarily fill wrinkles for a more yourthful appearance. It is used to smooth away more severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).
FACTS:
1. Prevelle does not contain animal products and no pre-testing is necessary before use.
2. Prevelle has proven to be effective in smoothing lines and wrinkles with minimum irritation.
3. Prevelle is used for moderate to fine lines and and generates immediate results with little to no downtime.
Latisse® is the first and only FDA-approved prescription treatment used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker.
FACTS:
1. The onset of effect with Latisse® solution is gradual, usually taking 2-months to noticed marked improvement.
2. If discontinued, lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance.
3. The most common side effets after using Latisse® are eye itching or eye redness.
